At Vero Amore, we pride ourselves on being Arizona’s first Authentic Neapolitan Pizzeria, certified by Italy’s Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana Academy (VPN). But our pizza isn’t the only thing that makes us Tucson’s premier destination for delicious Italian fare: nearly all of our menu items are actually prepared in-house. Here are some ways that we go the extra mile to provide you with a true Italian gourmet dining experience.

Salad Dressings

Caesar Salad is an Italian menu staple, which is why we just wouldn’t feel right giving you something out of a bottle. We make our tart, creamy, and anchovy-laced dressing right here in our kitchen. You can taste the tradition.

If Caesar Salad is too bold, try our Casa Insalate (house salad) with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions dressed in our much-beloved Wasabi Ranch or Tomato Balsamic Vinaigrette. Regardless of your selection you can trust that our flavors were carefully considered by our excellent chefs and not just poured from jar to plate.

If you are craving a more hearty salad, try our Prosciutto Caprese made with our own mozzarella cheese, fresh prosciutto, sliced tomato, and Basil Olive Oil Dressing. Taste the difference in our moist and rich homemade mozzarella – as it was intended.

Feeling more adventurous? Sample our Amore Cobb Salad with baked prosciutto, grilled onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, gorgonzola cheese, egg, and drizzled with our Wasabi Ranch dressing. While the wasabi does bring heat to the cool flavor of ranch, it’s proven to be a culinary mashup that our customers are smitten on.

Sauces

Even if you’ve done everything else right—handmade dough, fresh flour, veggies ripened to perfection—it’s the sauce that can make or break an otherwise perfect Italian dish. Pre-fab sauces can prove so salty, sweet, or herb-forward that they are all you taste when you take a bite. That’s why we prepare nearly all of our sauces from scratch, be it the alfredo that garnishes our fettuccini or the marinara of our homemade lasagna.

Even less well-known sauces like our mediterranean, marzano, pomodoro, osso bucco, cacciatore, and alfredo-rosa are all made from scratch, so you can rest assured that you’re partaking in authentic Italian cooking from the very first bite. We buy only the best ingredients to make the very best sauces, so while we don’t have our own veggie garden, you can trust that every tomato, basil leaf, or clove of garlic was carefully selected to keep flavor flawless and memorable.

Desserts

It’s not only the perfectly-cooked pastas and flavorful sauces of Italian food that make it a global favorite, but also the desserts!

Here again, Vero Amore offers several homemade specialties that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Our patrons agree that the scratch-made filling of our crunchy and creamy cannoli is to die for, but we’re also proud of our panna cotta and gourmet cookies – all homemade.

Our Pizza

We’ve held out for this long, but just we can’t keep our piece de resistance out of the spotlight any longer! Whether you’ve tried it in our restaurants or simply read about it our other blogs, you know that our officially certified Neapolitan pizza—the first of its kind in the state of Arizona—is the star of our menu at Vero Amore, and for good reason: we import the flour for the dough straight from Italy, along with fresh San Marzano tomatoes grown on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius.

We also put hours into preparing the fresh mozzarella cheese that tops our Neapolitan pizza and other delectable menu items. But authenticity doesn’t stop with ingredients; when it comes to baking, our Neapolitan pizzas are placed into our wood-fired oven, crafted from 5,000 lbs of Mt. Vesuvius stone. It just doesn’t get any more homemade than that.

We’re convinced that homemade isn’t just better for you, but it tastes better as well. So stop by our Dove Mountain or Swan Rd. locations today and enjoy an authentic and homemade Italian dining experience.
