Vero Amore’s founders, brothers Aric and Josh Mussman, spent many years in the restaurant business before setting out to found an eatery of their own.

The two had been closely involved in opening and training employees for other restaurants, meeting promising cooks and chefs along the way. For the Mussman brothers, the pizza scene in Tucson in 2006 left much to be desired. And after having a taste of certified Neapolitan pizza on a trip to Seattle, the two realized the best use of their talents — a Neapolitan pizzeria right here in Tucson!

Vero Amore (meaning “true love” in Italian) was certified as Authentic Neapolitan Pizzeria #250 by Italy’s world-renowned Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana Academy (VPN), which requires strict traditional Neapolitan pizza making standards. While being a certified Neapolitan pizzeria means a whole lot of diligent care – handmade mozzarella; imported ovens, tomatoes, and flour; training in Italy; careful measurements of pizza thickness; the requirement of particular pizza topping options – it is meticulous preparation that makes Vero Amore pizzas, and dishes in general, unique and absolutely delicious.

All Vero Amore dishes are made to order, and while that takes time, we believe that it’s worth the wait. In Italy, dining is about savoring fresh food. We believe in that tradition as well.

Buon appetito!

Vero Amore

Locations: 2920 N Swan Rd, Tucson, Arizona 85712 12130 N Dove Mountain Blvd #104 Marana, Arizona 85658 Vero Amore — meaning "True Love" in Italian — is the perfect name for our Italian restaurants. After falling in love with the “perfect pizza” in Italy, we brought authentic Neapolitan pizza to Southern Arizona. First, we trained extensively in the traditional culinary art of Neapolitan pizza making and searched for the finest quality ingredients available. Our hard work paid off when Vero Amore was certified as authentic Neapolitan Pizzeria #250 by Italy’s world-renowned Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana Academy (VPN). Today, Vero Amore is one of only a few hundred VPN certified pizzerias in the world. We adhere to the strict traditional Neapolitan pizza making standards set-forth by VPN. One of the VPN requirements (as well as a reason our pizza is so amazing) is our oven. Made of volcanic stone from Mount Vesuvius and weighing over 5,000 pounds, the oven is an asset to our organization and only gets better with age. It was built outside of Naples, Italy and shipped to our restaurant. Sometimes good food takes hard work and like everything we do in our restaurants, we are unwilling to sacrifice quality and will do whatever it takes to make the best product possible. Our fresh pizza dough is delicately hand pressed and then wood fired in the 800+ degree wood burning pizza oven. Rich pizza sauce is made exclusively from San Marzano tomatoes grown on the volcanic plains near Mount Vesuvius. Like our dough and sauce, Mozzarella is made fresh every day and our pizza toppings are the best available. A curated wine list complements our fresh pizzas, pastas, panini and salads. Vegetarian and Gluten-Free dishes are always available. Buon Appetito! Aric Mussman and Joshua Mussman
